Benefits:

  • Compostable & biodegradable
  • Freezer & microwave safe
  • A highly renewable material
  • Grease and water resistant
  • Suitable for hot or cold foods
  • Durable even with heavier foods
  • Uses less energy to produce than other materials

Commonly found in: hot cups, hot cup lids, deli pots, clamshell boxes, soup bowls, salad bowls, plates, cutlery, cup holders, food containers

Take-out Packaging

KRAFT PAPER

Paper packaging is a great option when made sustainably and ethically. All of our paper-based products are FSC certified throughout the entire supply chain. With PE coatings, paper products are waterproof and grease-resistant. Keep in mind this is non-compostable but still better than other plastics.

Benefits:

  • Microwave safe
  • Freezer safe with traditional plastic lining
  • 100% recyclable without plastic lining
  • Highly reusable up to 5-7 times
  • Derived from natural resources
  • Sustainable alternative to plastic
  • Compatible with custom printing
  • Higher biodegradation rate than plastic
  • More cost-effective than some other eco-friendly products

Commonly found in: hot cups, hot cup lids, cold cups, deli pots, soufflé pots, clamshell boxes, soup bowls, salad bowls, folded food boxes, flow wrap, trays, bags

Polyethylene Terephthalate

PET Plastic

PET is used to make durable and lightweight clear plastic packaging that is very common in cold cups, and food packaging. When PET packaging is recycled correctly, it helps reduce plastic waste in our environment. PET accounts for 70% of the recycled plastic in the United States.

Benefits:

  • Suitable for custom printing
  • Water and grease resistant
  • 100% Recyclable when rinsed
  • Light-weight and easier to transport
  • Durable and can handle heavier foods
  • More inexpensive than other packaging options
  • Easily flexible or moldable for packaging design

Commonly found in: cold cups, cold cup lids, deli pots, souffle pots, clamshell boxes, soup bowls, salad bowls, sushi box, trays, bento boxes, thali

Polypropylene

PP Plastic

PP is one of the most commonly used plastics found in products ranging from food containers to textiles. PP has high-temperature resistance, is very lightweight, and is hard to break. It must be recycled properly and rinsed thoroughly to reduce plastic waste.

Benefits:

  • Cost-effective
  • Longevity of the packaging
  • Easily moldable, and flexible
  • High resistance to chemicals
  • Highly durable and unbreakable
  • Waterproof and grease resistant
  • Recyclable when rinsed properly
  • Resilient against mold, mildew, and bacteria

Commonly found in: hot cup lids, cold cups, cold cup lids, deli pots, souffle pots, clamshell boxes, soup bowls, salad bowls, plates, cutlery, trays, bento boxes

Polylactic Acid

PLA Plastic

PLA, or polylactic acid, is a biodegradable and bioactive thermoplastic derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch or sugarcane. It is one of the most commonly used bioplastics globally due to its eco-friendly nature and versatility.

Benefits:

  • Commercial compostable
  • Can be used as a sustainable alternative to other plastic products
  • PLA plastic is made from renewable materials like corn and sugarcane
  • Produces a smaller carbon footprint than fossil-based plastics
  • Can be used as a grease and water-resistant coating in paper and bagasse products while allowing product to be disposed in an eco-friendly manner

Commonly found in: cold cups, cold cup lids, deli pots, souffle cups, clamshell boxes, soup bowls, salad bowls, straws, flow wrap

Paper + Aqueous Coating

Aqueous coating is a water-based, environmentally friendly coating that dries quickly when applied to printed materials. This coating is clear but also has the capability to create a satin, soft-touch or glossy finish.

Benefits:

  • Aqueous coatings are water-based, making them more environmentally friendly compared to solvent-based alternatives.
  • Aqueous coatings can provide a protective barrier against moisture, grease, and other contaminants, thus safeguarding the integrity and quality of the packaged contents.

Commonly found in: hot cups, hot cup lids, cold cups, cold cup lids, deli pots, souffle pots, clamshell boxes, soup bowls, salad bowls, plates, folded food boxes, straws, flow wrap, sushi boxes, trays, bento boxes, thali

Paper + PLA

Paper with PLA coating is a more sustainable option than Paper with PE coatings. PLA is derived from plants, making the product compostable and biodegradable. However, these products can only be composted at industrial facilities.

Benefits:

  • PLA coatings are biodegradable and compostable, reducing environmental impact.
  • Enhances moisture resistance and provide a protective barrier against external elements.
  • PLA, derived from renewable resources, offers a sustainable alternative to traditional petroleum-based coatings.
  • PLA coatings can be tailored to specific packaging needs, offering flexibility in terms of thickness, transparency, and printability.

Commonly found in: hot cups, hot cup lids, cold cups, cold cup lids, deli pots, souffle pots, clamshell boxes, soup bowls, salad bowls, plates, folded food boxes, flow wrap, sushi boxes, trays, bento boxes, thali

Plastarch Material

Cornstarch

Cornstarch is used to produce biobased products such as cutlery, plates, souffle pots, and clamshell lunchboxes. These are made from a Cornstarch and PP blend which makes the product strong and great for hot and wet foods whilst maintaining its eco background.

Benefits:

  • Produces less greenhouse gas emissions than conventional plastic
  • Less energy is needed to produce corn-based plastic
  • Compostable in industrial composting facilities
  • Grease and water-resistant without coatings of chemicals
  • Made from corn, a biodegradable and renewable source

Commonly found in: cold cups, deli pots, souffle pots, clamshell boxes, soup bowls, salad bowls, plates, cutlery, straws, sushi boxes, trays, bento boxes, thali

Disposable Utensils

Birchwood

Birchwood packaging is made from wood that is sustainably sourced. Products are usually lighter in color and are a great eco-friendly alternative to plastic. Birchwood is perfect for food packaging as it is sturdy and resists both hot and cold temperatures.

Benefits:

  • Lightweight
  • Recyclable
  • Sustainable alternative to plastic
  • Produced from a renewable resource
  • Home and commercially compostable

Commonly found in: plates, cutlery, trays, bento boxes
